Apple pie is a classic dessert that reminds us of warm autumn days and moments spent with loved ones. This recipe not only delights our taste buds but also fills our hearts with nostalgia. Whether we enjoy it warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side, or with a fragrant tea, apple pie truly brings joy.

Preparation time: 90 minutes
Number of servings: 8-10 servings

Necessary ingredients:

*For the yeast:*
- 100 ml warm milk
- 1 cube of fresh yeast (approximately 25 g)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 50-100 g flour

*For the dough:*
- 1 kg white wheat flour
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 egg
- 100 g butter or margarine (at room temperature)
- 50 ml oil
- 100 ml milk

*For the apple filling:*
- 1 kg - 1.5 kg apples (preferably sweet and aromatic)
- 250 g sugar
- 100 g walnut kernels (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

*For the top of the pie:*
- 3-4 tablespoons powdered sugar

Step by step for a perfect result:

1. Preparing the yeast
Start by preparing the yeast, an essential step that will give the dough a fluffy texture. In a bowl, place the cube of yeast. Add the warm milk and then the flour, mixing well until you achieve a consistency similar to thick sour cream. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it sit in a warm place for 15 minutes until the yeast increases in volume.

2. Preparing the dough
In a mixing bowl, place the flour, salt, and make a well in the center. Here, add the egg, milk, butter or margarine, and the prepared yeast. Knead the dough well for 20 minutes. If the dough sticks to your hands, add a little warm oil to detach it easily. Once you have obtained an elastic and smooth dough, cover it with 1-2 clean towels and let it rise in a warm place for 20-30 minutes.

3. Preparing the apple filling
Meanwhile, peel the apples and remove the cores, then grate them on a large grater. Place the grated apples in an oiled pot, add the sugar, and if desired, the walnuts and cinnamon. Let it simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are almost cooked and the sugar has melted. This stage will add a delicious aroma to the filling.

4. Forming the pie
After the dough has risen, divide it into two equal pieces. Grease the work surface with oil and roll out the first piece of dough with a rolling pin, ensuring it is 1 cm thick and slightly larger than the baking tray. Grease the tray with oil and dust it with flour. Place the first sheet of dough in the tray, evenly add the apple filling, then roll out the second sheet of dough. Twist the edges of the sheets to seal the filling. Make a few pricks with a toothpick in the top sheet to allow steam to escape during baking.

5. Baking the pie
Place the tray in a preheated oven at 180°C (medium heat) and bake for 15-20 minutes. After this time, turn the tray to ensure even baking. Leave the pie in the oven for another 10-15 minutes on low-medium heat until it becomes golden and crispy.

6. Finishing and serving
Once the pie is ready, take a clean towel, wet it with cold water, and wring it out well. Cover the hot pie with the damp towel, then with a dry one, to maintain moisture and prevent drying. After it has cooled, sprinkle powdered sugar evenly on top and cut it with a sharp knife. Serve the pie on a platter, whether you choose to enjoy it plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh cream.

Useful tips:
- Use sweet and aromatic apples for an intense flavor.
- You can add raisins or other dried fruits to the apple filling for added texture.
- If you prefer a fluffier pie, use type 00 flour.
- Instead of oil, you can use melted butter for a richer dough flavor.

Nutritional benefits:
Apples are an excellent source of fiber, vitamins (especially vitamin C), and antioxidants, contributing to healthy digestion and strengthening the immune system. Consuming walnuts adds healthy fats and proteins, making this pie not only delicious but also nutritious.

Frequently asked questions:
