To prepare a delicious cake, we start by carefully separating the egg whites from the yolks. This step is crucial, as the egg whites will be whipped until we achieve a firm meringue, while the yolks will add a rich flavor and a fine texture to our mixture. In a clean and dry bowl, we use a mixer to beat the egg whites at medium speed, gradually adding the sugar. We continue to mix until we obtain a glossy and firm meringue that forms peaks when we lift the mixer’s beaters.

In another bowl, we combine the yolks with a pinch of salt and preferred flavors, such as vanilla extract or lemon zest, to enhance the cake's aroma. Once the meringue is ready, we start to incorporate the yolks, adding them slowly and mixing with a spatula or wooden spoon so as not to lose the air in the meringue.

Next, we prepare the dry ingredients. We mix the flour with the baking powder, ensuring there are no lumps. Then, we begin to gradually add the flour mixture to the meringue and yolk mixture, gently folding from the bottom up. This will help maintain the air in the meringue, giving the cake a fluffy texture.

After obtaining a homogeneous mixture, we prepare the baking pan. We grease it with oil and line it with flour or parchment paper to prevent the cake from sticking. We pour the mixture into the pan and sprinkle chopped nuts on top, which we lightly crush between our fingers to distribute evenly. This step will add a crunch and a delicious flavor to the cake.

We preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and place the pan inside. We let the cake bake for 20 minutes, until it becomes golden and rises beautifully. After baking, we let the cake cool slightly, then dust it with powdered sugar for an elegant appearance. Using a glass, we cut the cake into crescents, giving it an attractive presentation.
