Desert - Cake for Santa by Rozalia F. - Recipia
To prepare a delicious and fragrant dessert, we start by ensuring we have all the ingredients ready and at hand. In a separate cup, we dissolve the baking soda in warm tea, which can be fruit or black, depending on personal preferences. This will add a subtle flavor and help the dough rise.

In a large bowl, we add finely chopped nuts, which will provide a pleasant and crunchy texture to the dessert. We continue by adding sugar, which will sweeten the mixture, and oil, which will contribute to the moisture of the dough. Next is the plum jam, which will not only add a fruity note but will also enrich the flavor of the preparation. Grated lemon zest will provide a fresh and invigorating contrast, perfect for balancing the sweetness of the jam.

After mixing all the wet ingredients, we begin to gradually add the flour. It is important to do this step by step, constantly mixing until we obtain a homogeneous dough, similar to that of a cake. Once the dough is ready, we prepare a tray measuring 25x35 cm, which we line with parchment paper to prevent the dessert from sticking to the bottom of the tray.

We pour the dough into the tray and smooth it out with a spatula, ensuring it is evenly distributed. We place the tray in the preheated oven at a moderate temperature and bake for about 40 minutes. It is important to check with a cake tester or a toothpick, and if it comes out clean, you know the dessert is ready.

After taking it out of the oven, we let it cool on a rack. Cooling is essential to cut the dessert without crushing it. Once it is completely cool, we carefully remove the edges. We cut the dessert into suitable pieces, depending on the moment's inspiration: diamonds, squares, rectangles, or even crescents, based on individual preferences.

For a delicious finish, we dust the pieces with vanilla sugar or we can opt for a simple glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with 1-2 tablespoons of cold tea. This will add an attractive appearance and a sweet taste, perfect for concluding a preparation that promises to be a true delight. Enjoy!
