It is important to ensure that the salt dissolves well, as this will enhance the sweet flavor of the cake. We continue mixing the eggs using an electric mixer, gradually adding the sugar. It is essential to mix sufficiently so that the mixture triples in volume and becomes airy and frothy; this will contribute to the fluffy texture of the cake. Once we have obtained a consistent foam, we add the oil, which will provide extra moisture and make the cake softer. We also add vanilla essence, which will bring a pleasant aroma and perfectly complement the sweet taste. After the oil and essence are well incorporated, we move on to the next step: adding the flour. It is recommended to use a silicone spatula to carefully mix the flour, using circular motions from bottom to top, to retain the air in the mixture and achieve a fluffy cake. In a separate small bowl, we take 3-4 tablespoons of the basic mixture and combine it with a tablespoon of cocoa. This combination will form a delicious layer of chocolate inside the cake. We must not forget to add the rum essence, which will bring a touch of sophistication and intensify the flavors. Now we prepare the tray in which we will bake the cake by lining it with baking paper. This step is crucial to ensure that the cake will easily come off after baking. We start pouring the mixture into the tray, alternating between the plain mixture and the one with cocoa. This technique will create a marbled effect, making the cake not only delicious but also visually appealing. Finally, we sprinkle chocolate chips on top, which will melt slightly during baking, adding a crunchy texture. We preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius and place the tray inside. We bake the cake for 40 minutes, but it is good to perform the toothpick test to check if it is ready. When the cake is golden brown and pulls away easily from the edges of the tray, we take it out and let it cool slightly before cutting it into portions. It can be served plain or with a dollop of sour cream, alongside a cup of coffee or a fragrant tea. Our cake is now ready to delight the taste buds of our loved ones!
