Crown with Melted Cheese and Salami

Activate the yeast with sugar and dissolve it in 1 tablespoon of warm milk, gently mixing to ensure good homogenization. Let the mixture rise in a warm place for 10-15 minutes, until it becomes frothy and doubles in volume. In the meantime, sifting the flour becomes an essential step to obtain a fine and airy dough. In a large bowl, sift the flour, then add the risen yeast, salt, melted and cooled butter, egg yolks, and the rest of the warm milk. Start kneading the dough, gradually adding more flour or warm milk until you achieve an elastic dough that easily pulls away from the bowl and your hands. After kneading the dough, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and wrap it in a towel to retain heat, allowing it to rise in a warm place until it doubles in volume. This process is essential for achieving a fluffy and airy texture. Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface, forming a rectangular sheet, which you will brush with a little melted and cooled butter. On the long side of the rectangle, place the slices of melted cheese, arranging them side by side, and then add the layer of salami or ham for extra flavor. Carefully roll the dough lengthwise, forming a tight roll, and join the ends to form a crown shape. Place the crown on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. With a sharp knife, make cuts on the outside of the dough at equal intervals, without reaching the center, to allow the dough to unfold beautifully during baking. Gently twist each cut piece either to the right or to the left, being careful not to break them. Allow the crown to rise again, covered, for 20-30 minutes. After this second proofing, brush it with a mixture of beaten egg yolk and warm milk to give it a golden color and an attractive crust. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place the tray in the oven; baking takes about 30 minutes or until the crown is browned and well-baked. After baking, let the crown cool on a wire rack to prevent condensation. Serve sliced, enjoying the fluffy texture and delicious flavors, perfect for any occasion. This recipe is sure to bring a smile to the faces of your loved ones!
