Ferrero Rocher (Chocolate Hazelnut Candies)

From the beginning, I must mention that the recipe I will develop is a true delight for the taste buds, even though, in my case, I made some modifications. Unfortunately, I did not have enough hazelnuts, so I skipped the final step and used milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. The result is definitely delicious, but it does not compare to the original version. The first step is to roast the hazelnuts. They should be lightly roasted to enhance their flavor. Once roasted, remove the thin skin that covers them. Now, take a blender or food processor and add the roasted hazelnuts along with the wafers. The mixing should be intense until you achieve a fine, homogeneous composition. In another step, roast a second batch of hazelnuts. Proceed the same way as with the first batch, but this time grind the hazelnuts without wafers. These will be kept separately for use in later stages. Now, combine the ground wafers with the hazelnuts and Nutella. It is important that the Nutella is slightly warmed so that it becomes more fluid and mixes easily with the other ingredients. After achieving a homogeneous composition, place everything in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up and make it easier to shape. Once the composition has firmed up, take it out of the refrigerator and start forming equal-sized balls. Place the balls on a tray and insert a toothpick into each one, which is optional but very useful for handling them later. Put the tray back in the refrigerator to allow the balls to firm up. In the next step, melt some chocolate and mix it with a little butter to give it a glossy appearance. Dip each ball in chocolate, letting the excess drip off. Place the balls on a rack, which is placed over a plate or tray to collect the dripped chocolate. After all the balls are coated, refrigerate them to set. Once the chocolate has hardened, roll the balls in the second batch of hazelnuts that you saved. Then, make a new layer of chocolate by melting the remaining chocolate and repeating the coating process. Finally, let the balls firm up again in the refrigerator to achieve a crispy and delicious texture. To store them, wrap the balls in foil and keep them in the refrigerator. These treats can be served as is or alongside a glass of champagne to add a touch of elegance to any occasion. Enjoy every bite and savor the delightful combination of chocolate, hazelnuts, and wafers!
