Chocolate Puff Pastry

To prepare these delicious chocolate dumplings, we start by activating the yeast. We take a small bowl and add the yeast together with sugar and warm milk. It is important that the milk is warm, not hot, so as not to destroy the yeast. We let the mixture sit for about 15 minutes until a foam forms on the surface, a sign that the yeast is active. In a large bowl, we combine the remaining ingredients: flour, a pinch of salt, and optionally a little oil to improve the dough's texture. After the yeast has fermented, we add it to the bowl with flour and start mixing. We knead the dough for about 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. We divide it into two equal parts, and each part is divided into five pieces. We take the first piece of dough and roll it as thin as possible into a round shape. We spread a thin layer of soft butter, then repeat the process with the second piece of dough, overlapping it over the first and spreading again. We continue this way until all five sheets are stacked, making sure the last sheet remains unbuttered. We repeat the same process with the other five pieces of dough, thus forming two "hills" of dough. To allow the butter to harden, we leave the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. After it has cooled, we roll each "hill" as thin as possible, as the thinner the sheets, the flakier the final result will be. We then cut the dough into triangles, and in the middle of each triangle, we place two small cubes of chocolate. We roll each triangle to form the dumplings. To give them a golden color when baked, we brush them with a mixture of beaten egg and a little milk, and on top, we can add sugar decorations for a more appealing look. We preheat the oven to a moderate temperature and arrange the dumplings on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving a little space between them to puff up during baking. When they are ready, we dust them with powdered sugar, and they are served warm, with chocolate oozing out with each bite. If there are any leftovers, they can be stored in the freezer, and when we want to enjoy them again, we can heat them for a few seconds in the microwave to restore their freshness. This recipe not only delights the taste buds but also offers a unique experience in the kitchen, where each step is a true culinary ritual.
