Focaccia with Tomatoes, Olives, and Basil

To prepare a delicious focaccia with tomatoes and olives, we start by mixing the dry ingredients. In a large bowl, we combine the wheat flour with salt and sugar. These ingredients will not only give flavor to the dough but also a pleasant texture. We then add the four tablespoons of oil, which will help tenderize the dough. In another container, we dissolve the yeast in warm water, making sure it activates. Once the yeast has completely dissolved, we add it to the flour mixture and start kneading. The dough will be quite soft at first, but we don't worry! We continue kneading, and when the dough becomes homogeneous, we add the two additional tablespoons of oil. This step is essential for achieving a fluffy and flavorful focaccia. After we finish kneading, we cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in volume. In the meantime, we prepare the baking tray. We take a baking tray and place a sheet of parchment paper at the bottom, then grease it with two tablespoons of oil to prevent the dough from sticking. Once the dough has risen sufficiently, we turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and carefully spread it into the prepared tray. Once spread, we flip it over so that it is evenly coated with oil. This technique will help achieve a crispy crust. We let the dough rise for another 20 minutes to allow it to become even fluffier. Meanwhile, we take care of the toppings. We slice the tomatoes thinly if they are large, or we can cut them in half if they are smaller. We arrange the tomato slices evenly over the risen dough. Then, we slice the olives into rounds and sprinkle them over the tomatoes, adding a touch of flavor. We sprinkle dried basil over the entire composition to enhance the flavors. We set the oven to a temperature of 220 degrees Celsius and preheat it. After five minutes of baking, we take the tray out of the oven and add a tablespoon of olive oil over the focaccia. This addition will ensure a golden and appetizing crust. We put the tray back in the oven and leave it until the edges become golden and slightly crispy. Once the focaccia is baked, we let it cool for a few minutes. We serve it warm, cut into portions, alongside a glass of wine or a favorite appetizer. This delicacy is perfect for any occasion, and the combination of tomatoes, olives, and basil will delight everyone's taste buds. Enjoy your meal!
