To prepare these delicious sunflower seed rolls, start by taking a generous amount of flour and placing it in a large bowl. This flour will be the base for your rolls, so make sure it is of the highest quality. Make a well in the center of the flour, like a small crater, where you will add the essential ingredients: fresh yeast, olive oil, sugar, and salt. These will not only provide flavor but also the necessary structure for the dough. Begin to pour warm water, a little at a time, into the formed crater, gently mixing with a fork. It is important not to add all the water at once, as the consistency of the dough needs to be carefully controlled. As you mix, also add the sunflower seeds, which will add a crunchy texture and pleasant taste. Once the ingredients are well incorporated, start kneading the dough with your hands. This process is essential to activate the gluten in the flour, which will give the dough elasticity. Continue kneading for about 4-5 minutes. If you find that the dough is too soft or sticky, gradually add a little extra flour. The ideal is for the dough to be soft but not stick to your hands. After achieving the desired consistency, cover the bowl with a thick cloth to retain heat. A method I personally use is to place the bowl in a well-sealed plastic bag, so the dough can 'sweat' more easily and rise evenly. Let the dough rise for 1-2 hours, depending on the room temperature. During this time, the dough should double in volume. Once the dough has risen, take it and divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a round shape, ensuring they are uniform in size for even baking. Place each piece on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. For an attractive appearance, brush each roll with a little water and sprinkle sunflower seeds on top. Preheat the oven to a temperature of 180°-200°C, and when ready, place the tray with the rolls inside. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the rolls turn golden and the pleasant aroma fills the house. Once done, let them cool slightly, then enjoy them warm, either plain or with various fillings. These rolls are perfect to be served for breakfast or as a snack throughout the day.
